Periodically, the club has hands-on workshops. These workshops vary from basic beginner classes where participants pot and shape a single small tree to more advanced workshops. Workshops are hosted by local greenhouses and nurserys. Our recent hosts include, P&M gardens in Eagle River, Alaska and Recluse Garden Center in Wasilla, Alaska. Workshops are usually open to the public, however some of the advanced workshops are offered to club members first. Workshops typically cost around $45, though more advanced workshops run around $100. Beginner workshops include: - Brief history and information about Bonsai - Hands on instruction - 1 pot - 1 tree (Usually a Chinese Elm) - Bonsai Soil - Wire to secure the tree in the pot Here are some pictures from a workshop we held at P&M Gardens in summer 2005.       |
